Africa's wildlife and habitats are treasures appreciated all over the world. The variety of the animal is stunning in its diversity , from lemurs and spider monkeys to elephants and Rhinos.
It is not only the number of different genus, it is the incredible variet of the specias with each genus. One only has to take a look at our pictures of "Plains Game", such as Impalas, Elands, Gazelles, Giraffes, and Zebras to be awed by the diversity.
To make all these fancy words understandable, the Zebra is a cousin of the horse and the Antelope is a cousin of the Impala but neither are cousins of each other. Man (us) is a cousin of the chimpanzee but we are certainly not cousins of the hyena. The wild African Dog is a cousin of our housepets but he is also a cousin of the Jackal and I do NOT think you would want his sleeping on your bed.
Many of the African animals are predators. This means they live by killing other animals. But you must remember that the worst predator is man and therefore we have included pictures of horrible men like Hitler, Stalin, Genghis Kahn along with wolves and foxes, hyenas and panthers.
Our pictures of animals and reptiles were taken in South Africa. The pictures of animals, pictures of birds, pictures of trees and reptile pictures will give you an idea of the wildlife living on this continent.
